The MSU TCTO College of Education proudly announces the official launch of The TEPO Journal: Trends in Educational Practice and Outcomes during the 1st International Conference on Inclusive and Indigenous Education.

Named after the traditional Sama woven mat, TEPO symbolizes interconnectedness, creativity, and the weaving of stories across generations. The journal aims to amplify the voices of educators and researchers from Tawi-Tawi, across the Philippines, and around the world.

Endorsed by the MSU Board of Regents through Resolution No. 225, Series of 2025, TEPO is a peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary platform for original research and creative works in education. Its founding Editorial Board includes scholars from over twenty countries, reflecting MSU-TCTO’s commitment to international collaboration and academic excellence.

Prof. Alhisan U. Jemsy, PhD, Dean of the College of Education and Editor-in-Chief of the TEPO, said: “May The TEPO Journal serve as a bridge connecting local narratives with global conversations, a platform nurturing young scholars, and a legacy that future generations of educators will continue to build upon. Like the woven tepo, may this journal be strong, interconnected, and enduring.”

The journal welcomes submissions across a wide range of topics, including innovative pedagogical practices, curriculum design and implementation, comparative and international education, ecopedagogy and environmental education, assessment and evaluation, teacher education and professional development, technology-enhanced learning, inclusive and multicultural education, Indigenous education, Islamic education, educational equity and social justice, educational leadership and policy, community engagement and partnerships, emerging trends and innovations, and education for sustainability.

While the launch marks a major milestone, it is only the beginning. TEPO aspires to become a Scopus-indexed publication in the coming years. Achieving this goal will require consistent editorial processes, strict adherence to ethical standards, strong international collaborations, and steadfast institutional support.

The TEPO is set to be published biannually, providing a consistent platform for diverse voices in education. With each issue, the journal seeks not only to showcase innovative research and creative scholarship but also to foster a global dialogue that bridges local insights with international perspectives. As it grows, TEPO aspires to become a beacon of academic excellence, nurturing emerging scholars, influencing educational practice, and leaving a lasting legacy for generations of educators to come.
