The MSU Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (MSU TCTO) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Local Government Units of Simunul, Panglima Sugala, Sibutu, South Ubian, Bongao, Tandubas, and Sitangkai on December 17 at the Conference Room, Sabdani J. Bulante Building. The agreement formalizes a collaborative partnership in support of marine biodiversity conservation and fisheries management in the Province of Tawi-Tawi.
The MOU establishes a framework for cooperation in research, extension, and capacity-building initiatives, with MSU TCTO providing technical assistance through its Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension (OVCRE), while the partner LGUs support program implementation through coordination, data sharing, and local resource mobilization.
In her message, Chancellor Mary Joyce Z. Guinto-Sali emphasized that the partnership reflects the University’s commitment to translating academic expertise into meaningful community impact, particularly in advancing sustainable coastal and fisheries resource management in the province.
Representatives from the partner Local Government Units also delivered their respective messages, expressing appreciation for the collaboration and affirming their commitment to strengthening joint initiatives with the University in pursuit of sustainable and inclusive development.
This partnership reinforces the University’s continuing efforts to strengthen institutional linkages and promote sustainable, community-based development initiatives in Tawi-Tawi.
