In its continuing pursuit of academic excellence and quality assurance, the Mindanao State University Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (MSU TCTO) has secured Certificates of Program Compliance (COPC) for academic programs evaluated by the Commission on Higher Education Office of Programs and Standards Development (CHED OPSD) Central, particularly those under the College of Islamic Arts and Sciences (CIAS).
This latest milestone includes the official issuance of COPCs for the Bachelor of Science in Teaching Arabic (BSTA) and the Bachelor of Arts in Islamic Studies major in Shariah (ABIS). The approval of these CIAS programs affirms the University’s adherence to national standards of quality assurance and effective program implementation as prescribed by CHED.
In addition to the programs evaluated by CHED OPSD Central, most of MSU TCTO’s other undergraduate and graduate programs have likewise been granted Certificates of Program Compliance following evaluation by the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office IX (CHEDRO IX). These approvals collectively reflect the University’s sustained compliance with CHED’s regulatory requirements across its academic offerings.
The COPC serves as CHED’s formal recognition that academic programs comply with its Policies, Standards, and Guidelines (PSGs). It confirms alignment with the K to 12 curriculum, outcomes-based education (OBE), the General Education framework, and the Philippine Qualifications Framework (PQF)—ensuring that graduates are equipped with competencies responsive to both national and global demands.
In her statement, Chancellor Mary Joyce Z. Guinto-Sali, Ph.D., underscored the significance of the achievement, saying:
“This milestone reflects MSU TCTO’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence and quality assurance. The approval of our programs evaluated by CHEDRO IX and CHED OPSD Central is a testament to the dedication, collaboration, and integrity of our academic community.”
Beyond regulatory compliance, the achievement strengthens MSU TCTO’s capacity to expand academic partnerships, enhance faculty and student development, and access opportunities for research and innovation. More importantly, it assures students and stakeholders that the University’s academic offerings meet CHED’s rigorous standards for quality and relevance.
MSU TCTO extends its gratitude to its officials, faculty, students, staff, and partners whose collective efforts made this accomplishment possible. Guided by its mission of Creating Opportunities and Transforming Lives, the University remains steadfast in advancing transformative, globally relevant, and future-ready education for the people of Tawi-Tawi and beyond.
