The Mindanao State University–Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (MSU TCTO) and the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) formalized their partnership through a Memorandum of Agreement for the implementation of the Research Information Translation and Communication (RITAC) Program on September 23 at the Sabdani Bulante Conference Hall.
The partnership aims to strengthen the dissemination of research information and improve the understanding, appreciation, and utilization of basic research findings among policymakers, industry professionals, members of the general public, students, teaching personnel, and researchers.
Through the RITAC Program, NRCP and MSU TCTO will develop and implement a comprehensive lineup of activities tailored to the University community. These initiatives will provide opportunities for research findings to be communicated in clear and accessible forms and applied to relevant institutional and community concerns. The program will be implemented in coordination with the Office of Research, Innovation, Development and Extension.
Signing the agreement for the NRCP were President Dr. Michael Angelo B. Promentilla and Executive Director Dr. Brian S. Bantugan. Representing MSU TCTO were University Chancellor Dr. Mary Joyce Z. Guinto-Sali and Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension Dr. Richard N. Muallil.
The signing was witnessed by Mr. Joselito A. Carteciano, Chief Science Research Specialist of the NRCP, and Mr. Yusuf-Ali T. Eldani, Director of the MSU TCTO Office of Continuing and Extension Services.
The partnership strengthens MSU TCTO’s efforts to bring research beyond academic spaces and bridge the gap between research and the communities it is intended to serve. By translating scientific findings into accessible, understandable, and practical knowledge, the RITAC Program can help communities make informed decisions, address local concerns, and benefit more directly from research-based solutions that support sustainable and inclusive development.
