Through a key initiative designed to deepen alumni ties and advance university development, the Mindanao State University Alumni Association, Inc. (MSUAA) and the Mindanao State University – Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (MSU-TCTO) officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on October 1, 2025, at the Sabdani Butane Conference Hall.
The ceremonial signing marked the formalization of a collaborative partnership between MSUAA and MSU-TCTO for the construction, development, and management of the Bahay Alumni within the MSU-TCTO campus. This initiative is part of the broader MSUAA Bahay Alumni Program, which aims to establish dedicated spaces across MSU campuses to foster alumni involvement and support university-aligned activities.
The event also featured the ceremonial turnover of financial assistance for the Lumah Alumni Constructions, underscoring MSUAA’s commitment to the program. Through its National Board of Directors, MSUAA has allocated One Million Five Hundred Thousand Pesos (₱1,500,000.00) for the construction of a Bahay Alumni on each MSU campus, including MSU-TCTO.
The MOA was signed by Engr. Samuel B. Sabenecio, MSUAA National President and MSU Alumni Regent, and Chancellor Mary Joyce Z. Guinto-Sali, PhD. The signing was witnessed by key university and alumni leaders, including:
- Dir. Ainasul K. Sali, J.D., CESE – Director, Office of the Chancellor
- Atty. Datu Esma Mikee P. Maruhom – Assistant Dean, MSU College of Law, Tawi-Tawi Extension Campus
- Asst. Prof. Moh. Sharif I. Abdulhamid – Director, Alumni and Career Center

- Ms. Carolyn N. Talipan – President, MSUAA Campus-Based
- Mr. Juraid Dayan Hussin – President-in-waiting, MSUAA Community-Based, Tawi-Tawi Chapter
The Bahay Alumni project at MSU-TCTO held its groundbreaking ceremony in December 2024. Once completed, the facility will serve as a multipurpose hub for alumni events, professional development programs, guest accommodations, and office space for MSUAA. It will be jointly managed by MSUAA and MSU-TCTO, ensuring that it remains a vibrant and functional space aligned with the university’s mission and the alumni community’s aspirations.
This partnership reflects a shared vision of fostering lifelong connections between MSU graduates and their alma mater while also contributing to the growth and sustainability of the university’s campuses.
