**MSU TCTO Joins the 1st Philippines Small-Scale Fisheries National Symposium! ππ** The Mindanao State University - Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (MSU TCTO), under the leadership of Chancellor Mary Joyce Z. Guinto-Sali, proudly participated in the First Philippines Small-Scale Fisheries National Symposium (1PSSFNS) from October 16-18, 2024, in Iloilo City! Organized by the National Consortium for Small-Scale Fisheries Research and Development, known as Too Big to Ignore (TBTI) Philippines, this groundbreaking symposium brought together leading higher education institutions to promote sustainable small-scale fisheries (SSF) nationwide. The event aimed to foster dialogue and collaboration on advancing resilient and sustainable practices within the SSF sector. Chancellor Guinto-Sali was joined by Ms. Yennyriza Abduraup from the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension (OVCRE) and Ms. Merfat Sali, a BS Marine Biology student from the Institute of Oceanography and Environmental Science. Both contributed to the symposium through research presentations in oral and poster sessions. Themed βSmall-Scale Fisheries in the Philippines are Too Big to Ignore,β the symposium gathered a diverse array of stakeholders, including fishers, scientists, LGU representatives, policymakers, students, NGOs, media, and heads of TBTI member institutions.
