**MSU TCTO Joins the 1st Philippines Small-Scale Fisheries National Symposium! ππ** The Mindanao State University - Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (MSU TCTO), under the leadership of Chancellor Mary Joyce Z. Guinto-Sali, proudly participated in the First Philippines Small-Scale Fisheries National Symposium (1PSSFNS) from October 16-18, 2024, in Iloilo City! Organized by the National Consortium for Small-Scale Fisheries Research and Development, known as Too Big to Ignore (TBTI) Philippines, this groundbreaking symposium brought together leading higher education institutions to promote sustainable small-scale fisheries (SSF) nationwide. The event aimed to foster dialogue and collaboration on advancing resilient and sustainable practices within the SSF sector. Chancellor Guinto-Sali was joined by Ms. Yennyriza Abduraup from the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension (OVCRE) and Ms. Merfat Sali, a BS Marine Biology student from the Institute of Oceanography and Environmental Science. Both contributed to the symposium through research presentations in oral and poster sessions. Themed βSmall-Scale Fisheries in the Philippines are Too Big to Ignore,β the symposium gathered a diverse array of stakeholders, including fishers, scientists, LGU representatives, policymakers, students, NGOs, media, and heads of TBTI member institutions. MSU TCTO CIAS Programs Granted COPC After CHED OPSD Central Evaluation

MSU TCTO Strengthens Partnership with Local Government Units through MOU Signing
The MSU Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (MSU TCTO) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Local Government Units of Simunul, Panglima Sugala, Sibutu, South Ubian, Bongao, Tandubas, and Sitangkai on December 17 at the Conference Room, Sabdani J. Bulante Building. The agreement formalizes a collaborative partnership in support of marine biodiversity conservation and fisheries management in the Province of Tawi-Tawi.

MSU TCTO Ranks Among UI GreenMetric Universities, Leading BARMM in Sustainability
The Mindanao State University β Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (MSU TCTO) has achieved a notable accomplishment in its debut participation in the 2025 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, placing 1,411th globally among institutions recognized for their commitment to sustainability. Nationally, MSU TCTO ranked 78th among Philippine universities, and notably, it emerged as the first and only institution in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) to be included in this global sustainability assessment.
