Mindanao State University – Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (MSU-TCTO) and Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), Indonesia, have signed two Memoranda of Agreement (MOAs) to establish faculty and student exchange programs. This partnership strengthens collaboration between the two institutions, benefiting both through exchange programs, research partnerships, scholarship opportunities, and the potential for dual degree programs.

During the signing, UMY Rector, Prof. Dr. Achmad Nurmandi, M.Sc., highlighted the importance of this collaboration in enhancing the international visibility of both universities, particularly within the Southeast Asian region. MSU-TCTO Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Mary Joyce Z. Guinto-Sali, also acknowledged the shared cultural and historical ties between the Philippines and Indonesia, which will further strengthen the collaboration and deepen the connection between the two countries.

Currently, three MSU-TCTO personnel are pursuing graduate programs at UMY: 🔹 Assoc. Prof. Ibrahim S. Miguel – PhD in Government Affairs and Administration 🔹 Mr. Rudyn S. Alaldaya – Master of Islamic Studies 🔹 Mr. Albidri B. Albi – Master in International Relations

The Mindanao State University – Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (MSU TCTO) has achieved a notable accomplishment in its debut participation in the 2025 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, placing 1,411th globally among institutions recognized for their commitment to sustainability. Nationally, MSU TCTO ranked 78th among Philippine universities, and notably, it emerged as the first and only institution in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) to be included in this global sustainability assessment.
