As a member of the Global Futures Society (GFS) under the Dubai Future Foundation, the Mindanao State University – Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (MSU-TCTO) gains access to a global network of futurists, institutions, and innovators dedicated to shaping inclusive and sustainable futures. This membership helps MSU-TCTO become more visible internationally and improves its ability to predict future trends, allowing the university to participate in global discussions, research, and projects that support the UN Sustainable Development Goals and national development needs.

As the southernmost public university in the Philippines, MSU-TCTO plays a vital role in contributing localized foresight perspectives from small island and coastal communities—particularly in the areas of oceanography, blue economy, and climate resilience. It serves as a regional hub for futures literacy, promoting foresight education, scenario planning, and innovation for sustainable development across Mindanao, BARMM, and the broader Asia-Pacific region.

The Global Futures Society (GFS) is a global network initiative of the Dubai Future Foundation, headquartered at the Museum of the Future. It brings together futurists, foresight institutions, thinkers, and innovators from different fields and places to work together on future plans, share ideas, and build teamwork for sustainable and inclusive futures.

In becoming a member of the Global Futures Society, MSU-TCTO strengthens its resolve to shape inclusive, resilient foresight narratives that honor both local wisdom and global collaboration. By amplifying the voices of coastal and island communities, the university continues to champion futures thinking rooted in place, purpose, and possibility.
